Funny things kids say--Victoria's turn

Quick blog today.

I was just thinking of funny things our kids have said and was reminded of the conversation Doug had with our daughter Victoria. They had been discussing vegetarians--what that means.

When Victoria said to Doug:
"It's sad that we eat animals, but they are just so darn tasty."

Maybe you had to be there....:)

Christmas Spirit

I know it isn't even Thanksgiving yet. And you are reading a blog from someone who bans FM100 or any other "soft hits" radio station simply because they start playing Christmas music November 1st--and that is just wrong.
But last night Olivia said something I have to share. Keep in mind that she is just four years old and, while she is fairly certain she is hilarious she has no idea why this was so funny...
Doug's cousin Lance was over doing some mortgage work. When he left Olivia walked Doug and Lance to the door and informed them that it was snowing. They went out front and turned back and said, "It isn't snowing. It's cold, but it isn't snowing." So she said "It is snowing in the backyard." So Doug went to the back and flipped on the light, and sure enough--with the frost coming off the roof that direction it looked like it was snowing in the backyard. Doug said "That's crazy. It is snowing in the back, but not in the front." Olivia clapped her hands together and said "It's a Christmas miracle!"

For all of you 'Christmas Story' fans, I thought you might get a kick out of that one. :)

2nd Post

No, I'm not going to keep track of all my posts by number. "Let's don't be silly."

Just wanted to write a quick update on some of the kids...

Kady made the 9th grade basketball team. I think it will be fun for her. I hope it will be fun to watch...she likes it so far I think. As much as you can like practicing 3 days a week before the season starts in December.

Kelly's soccer team is playing indoor soccer in the boys division because not enough girls teams signed up this session. The team played their first game today and got beat 7-4. We only had one sub and ran out of steam at the end--they were tied 3-3 going into halftime, went up 4-3 and then pooped out. (Doesn't help that our goalie and both back up keepers weren't at the game today...). The boys they played against were a bit nervous at the thought of losing to the girls, I'm sure. They seemed pretty excited to pull off the win. Next Saturday should be better--we'll have all of our team there next week. No excuses.

Victoria refused to watch 'Transformers' with us tonight. She thought she wouldn't like it. She ended up watching the last 30 minutes of the movie and now wants us to buy a copy. (The one we watched I checked out of the library...) She doesn't like action movies that might have blood and gore. Won't even take our word for it that she will like it. I'd say that now maybe she will listen to us, but that won't happen. She is fairly certain she knows more than the majority of our family. :)

JD already has a very thorough Christmas list drawn up. He has made a couple of drafts, taken a calculator and totaled the prices of this items on his list and then pared it down to a more manageable (read 'less laughable') number. Now when I ask him to do something for me he tried the bartering route of "If you get me everything on my Christmas list I will do that for you." And then of course he immediately does what I asked him as soon as I come back with the old "That's one more present off your list, want to try for more?" I'm starting to like the Christmas season--the kids seem more willing to be helpful. Whoever came up with the 'naughty or nice' list was genius.

Dominic, Olivia, and Mariah are Kady's new favorites. Those three are the only ones who helped her clean the tv room today (speaking of being helpful..) I am fairly certain bribery was involved, but whatever she told them it worked. It is amazing how fast that room gets destroyed, by the way. Kady said she hoped that if they help clean it they will realize what a pain it is and will try to keep it clean. Like that is going to happen. Can anyone honestly see two 4 year olds and a 3 year old keeping anything clean on purpose?

Dom and Livi just came in to show me they switched clothes. Just so everyone knows, Dom looks lovely in purple.

I guess that's enough for today. Not a ton of rambling. Just warming up.

First Blog

I don't know why I think I need to start blogging. It isn't like I'm looking for MORE reasons to spend my day on my computer instead of doing other domestic duties like cleaning the house and hanging with the littles. But what the heck.

Who am I kidding? I love more reasons to not clean my house. I have even been known to watch Dora and Barney to get out of cleaning the house.

As my family is well aware, I am running for the coveted title of 'Queen of the Ramblers', so anyone reading this can be guaranteed a novel of long, drawn out stories detailing the exploits of a large rambunctious family. And probably a bit of extra rambling thrown in just to clinch above said title.

I do not, however, guarantee entertaining stories, 100% factual stories, or even a consistent posting here. But if anyone wants to read something that might either make them laugh (either at actual humor or plain relief that at least YOUR family isn't this weird), or give you something to think about (like "What in the world was she thinking?"), then go ahead and bookmark this--and I might find a blog that meets that criteria and post a link here you can check on later. :)

Oh, and just fair warning....I over use the smileys when I post. It is a bad habit I can't break. Much like the habit I have of not being able to say no to chocolate--except it doesn't taste as good.

You might want to start bringing a nice beverage with you when you sit down to read my blogs...they might take awhile to get through.
